Art in Exile

With the exhibition Art in Exile the Museum wishes to create a platform for artists with refugee status not only to show their art but to create networks, cultural encounters and dialogue. Volunteers of the Museum has in recent months worked with a number of artists to put together an ecletic group exhibition. Common for the 6 participating artists is that they have all been performing artists in their home contries and are now living in Denmark. Film, visual arts, music and installation sets the frame of the exhibition.
Film Director Ramin Mohammadi (Afg) contributes with his film The Icy Sun. The film is one of the first Afgan films to openly discuss taboo subjects like rape and abuse of women. The film has been shown at several international festivals and received considerable attention in the international press - in part because of its focus on women's rights in Afghanistan and partly because because Ramin Mohammadi in 2013 had to flee the country, as the film's protagonist was shown partly nude.
The other part of the exhiition combines work by the Syrian painter Hasko Hasko, the Syrian artist Mazen Al Fell, the Malaysian artist Amir Zainorin, guitarist Feras Louis (Syr) and Amr Hatem (Syr), who is best known for his Arabic calligraphy. With their individual artistic backgrounds and stories they create an dynamic and exciting exhibition.
The exhibition concept is created in collaboration with the artists, project coordinators Ekin Samer and Marianne Friis Vindahl, and the volunteers of the Museum.
Opening in collaboration with INSP!
